FOR some, moving to another state league to prove their talent works wonders for their careers. For Callum Sinclair, it has provided another string to his bow to play a dominant attacking ruck role for Subiaco in the WAFL.
The former Port Melbourne player was always a draft prospect at the Borough but wasn’t able to out-shine several other prospects in the team. Instead, he moved west and AFL recruiters have kept an eye on his progress with interest.
Sinclair moves well and would add versatility to any AFL team. The 200cm player made the WAFL state team this season, exemplifying his trade at a dominant figure in two state leagues over two years.
The only thing that may put some clubs off his is injury run but his first month at Subiaco would suggest that he is still for the taking and his draft chances are as good as any other state league player.
Richmond was one team that kept a close eye on him last year and Greater Western Sydney was touted as a possible destination for him earlier in the year.
Already Tom Lee from Claremont has been plucked by St Kilda and Sinclair may be another from the WAFL that could be taken.
At the Borough, coach Gary Ayres was a big fan of the way Sinclair plays. Just like at Subiaco, only injuries stood in his way to get back onto an AFL list. Time, however, is still on his side as he is only 22.
